Tim Ferry began racing at the age of seven. He spent his amateur career competing for Kawasaki's Team GreenT throughout the '80s and early '90s before turning pro in 1992. Ferry earned recognition when he won the AMA East Motocross Lites Championship in 1997. In 2007, Ferry rejoined Kawasaki and had a comeback year to remember, which included his first win in six years and several podium finishes.
History
2007
In his first year back with Kawasaki, Ferry earned an impressive 13 top-five finishes and six podium finishes in the AMA Supercross series to end up third overall. In AMA Motocross, he continued his success with his first overall win in six years at Washougal Motocross Park, going on to finish fourth overall in the series. Ferry was a member of Team USA at Motocross of Nations, winning the Open class and helping the USA take the overall victory.
2006
Ferry entered the 2006 season with a new found determination and strength with a new team. He had six top-ten finishes in the AMA Supercross series and finished 11th overall despite missing the last two races due to injury. He was also forced to sit out the first two AMA Motocross Championship races. Once he returned he was able to string together nine top-ten finishes and ended the season tenth overall.
2005
Ferry finished 12th overall in the AMA Supercross Series with his best finish being at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas where he placed seventh. During the AMA Motocross Championship he finished 24th overall for the season.
2004
Ferry had recurring injuries that were plaguing him throughout the season. He was only able to race three events during the AMA Supercross Series and was unable to race in the AMA Motocross Championship.
2003
Ferry was on top of the podium four times during the AMA Supercross Series and took fifth overall. In the AMA Motocross Championship he fared slightly better with eight top-five finishes and took fourth overall for the season. Ferry was also selected to represent Team USA at the Motocross of Nations.
2002
Ferry wrapped up his 2002 AMA Supercross Series with 14th overall and his AMA Motocross season with second overall.
2001
Ferry rode consistently and finished the year out with sixth overall in the AMA Supercross Series and third overall in the AMA Motocross Championship.
